Dhanak Novel By Rabia Khan Summary:
The story of the Dhanak novel starts with two families who have been enemies for many, many years. Nobody even remembers why they started hating each other, but grandparents have passed down the hate to parents, who have passed it down to children. Because of this old fight, innocent people suffer.
Our heroine is Lala Rukh, a brave and bold girl who is full of life. She has big dreams and wants to do something meaningful with her life. She is not shy or quiet like typical heroines. Instead, she speaks her mind, stands up for herself, and fights for what is right. She is the kind of girl who makes you smile because she is so confident and funny.
Then we have Arsal, the hero of the story. He is a Pathan boy, which means he comes from a culture where men are supposed to be tough and strong. Arsal is exactly that—he is serious, suspicious of everyone, and has a lot of anger inside him. He has been hurt in the past, and because of that, he does not trust people easily. He thinks love makes you weak, and he does not want anything to do with emotions or feelings.
Because of the family feud (big fight), Lala Rukh and Arsal are forced into marriage. Neither of them wants this marriage. Arsal refuses to accept Lala Rukh as his wife because of their family terms. He treats her rudely, so she can understand that there is no place for her in Arsal’s life.
But instead of crying in the corner every time and pitying herself, Lala Rukh decides to make her place in Arsal’s family and in his heart. In the beginning, Arsal’s behaviour is very rude towards Lala Rukh, but as time passes, he realises that Lala Rukh is not the kind of person who should be misbehaved. She is honest, kind, and truly cares about him and his family. He begins to feel protective of her. When anyone tries to hurt Lala Rukh, Arsal gets angry and defensive, which shows that he is starting to care.
The funny part of the story is how Lala Rukh gives cute nicknames to Arsal and keeps talking to him even when he ignores her. She is like a bright light trying to shine in his dark world. Her cousins also play important roles in the novel, and you will also read their love stories in the novel. The novel also taught us that revenge only brings sadness. When people refuse to forgive each other, everyone suffers.
